The Akti Palace Hotel sidles right up to the sparkling Aegean Sea – it’s just a hop, skip and a jump from the sun terrace onto a pretty sand and shingle beach. Head out of the front of the hotel, meanwhile, and you’ve got a choice of mountainous hiking trails at your feet. It’s also just a 10-minute taxi ride into the centre of Kardamena, where you’ll find a pretty harbour and a team of bars and restaurants. If you’re all about poolside relaxation while you’re on holiday, you’re in luck. Sun loungers and parasols surround the huge outdoor pool, which is sunken into a sea-facing sun terrace.
