This north-eastern Spanish resort on the Costa Barcelona is all about the sunshine, with hints of history to boot.</p><p></p><p>Malgrat lays claim to a ribbon of powdery, deep-golden sand. There are three beaches in total, with sun beds, ice cream parlours and drinks kiosks on hand. Central Beach is the liveliest of the trio, but in the main, it’s about quietly curling up with a book in the warm rays. </p><p></p><p>The coast is connected by an awesome train line. Jump aboard to visit Santa Susanna, a pretty village just next door, or the animated Pineda del Mar further along the shoreline.
